The film

10,000 black market operations involving human organs take place each year. Most organs are acquired without donor consent. This is a story about one of them.

When Carlos, an ambitious doctor discovers he is terminally ill, he faces the toughest dilemma of his life: upholding his values or seeing his children grow up. He does not realize that he will later be confronted with the illegal donor that unwillingly saved his life. Trade is a film about the horrific realities of international illegal organ trafficking. It tells the story of a rich surgeon who suffers from cancer and urgently needs a transplant. Meanwhile, an illegal immigrant who has bought his passage from Africa into Spain, in hopes of brighter future, pays a higher price than he intended.

Trade the film was initiated by IFAN inspired by shocking reports on the ever-growing crisis of organ trafficking, and the illegal activities associated with it. The purpose of the project is to shed light on this issue and create awareness through a thrilling story that explores what a human life is truly worth.
